Join CSC for an immersive experience to learn about Traction ministry. We will explore the Black Block in Pawtucket, RI led by Traction founder Leslie Moore. Leslie is implementing the Traction model by sharing her life and resources to create a Black economic and cultural hub to revive the downtown of a former mill city.
We will also gather to celebrate Jahvon Goodwin’s creative expression through art and poetry. Jahvon has been connected to Traction Ministry for over 15 years. He will share with us artwork he is creating while behind bars. We plan to hear from him during our time together.
Schedule
12pm – Leave Central Square Church, 5 Magazine Street (gather outside for carpooling)
1pm – Meet at Still on Main mini-mall, 250 Main Street Pawtucket, RI 02860 to enjoy Jahvon Goodwin’s Art Exhibit & Book Launch
2:30pm – Tour of Black Block Cultural District by Leslie Moore
4pm – Leave Pawtucket and head back to Cambridge
What to expect: Learn how Traction founder, Leslie Moore and others are radically applying the Traction model of resource sharing to build a Black economic and cultural hub in downtown Pawtucket, RI. Leslie and others who live and work in the Black Block will lead us on a tour of the various buildings which include a performing arts center, mini-mall, indoor park, housing and properties still being developed. We will also spend some time imagining what sharing our lives, social networks and resources could mean for us collectively and individually.
