Join us Monday, January 19, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as we help host the 2026 Cambridge MLK Day of Service and Learning!
Central Square Church is partnering with Many Helping Hands in hosting the Cambridge MLK Day event, which is a city event consisting of a welcome session (2:00-2:30pm) at CSC and a time to participate in service projects (2:30-5:00pm).
We need volunteers for hosting the CSC space during the welcome session, service projects, and clean up. No prior experience (hospitality or otherwise) required! Based on your shift, tasks can include greeting and ushering people into and out of the sanctuary, directing people to bathrooms, and/or helping with clean-up. We will assign each volunteer to a specific area in the sanctuary/hallway. Here is what the general schedule will look like:
Welcome Session Shift (10-20 volunteers):
- 12:30pm – Gather at church, go over volunteer roles, ask questions, and pray for the event
- 1:00pm – We expect people to start coming in around this time. Volunteers will perform their assigned duties
- 2:00pm – Welcome session will start
- 2:30pm – Welcome session will end. Volunteers will help with ushering people to exit the building
- 3:00pm – Welcome session volunteers are dismissed! (You are free to join the service projects happening in the CSC Fellowship Hall or at other Cambridge sites if you would like.)
Service Project Shift (2-3 volunteers):
- 3:00-4:30pm – Service Projects happening at CSC. Volunteers will help answer questions (re: bathrooms,) clean out the sanctuary of lost items, etc.
Clean Up Shift (3-5 volunteers):
- 4:30-5:30pm – Help clean up by directing MHH volunteers to the trash areas, etc.
We hope you are able to join us!
